My poor computer blew up Wednesday and I have been without meaningful internet for almost 56 hours. O.O This is Not Fun. I guess these withdrawal symptoms officially make me an addict.

Anyway, I am new-computered, although I still have to install my Word, and my tension headache is finally gone. I just have to catch up on my email now... ^__^

We have here an ii kibarashi that occurs directly after Sticks & Stones. Sunny's dialogue virus is catching. ^___^

Hey, you're back! I had a bad 'internet' day yesterday because the hubby-unit took off work, so I didn't get to answer any of your messages. He took off yesterday though, because they're both off to the company picnic today, so I should be able to catch up. ^____^

We are back and 90% brand new! ^______^ I am so relieved! I hate being computer-less!

The only problem now, is that I can't find anything! O.O They transferred my data, but... This is XP Pro and I had XP Home and I can't seem to find my games... I have all my discs, so reloading isn't a problem; it's just... Where are they hiding?! O.O

The games might not have been reloaded. The main difference between the home and the pro edition is how they handle security and firewalls. They are set up the same other than that.

At least you aren't dealing with the differences between VISTA and XP.

But I might be wrong because I am mostly an apple person now, just support the Windows at work.

^__^ I figured that out when I finally remembered to try the search... I really am dangerous with a computer; I know just enough to really screw things up. It's a good thing I know it and keep my grubby talons out of things... *sigh*

But I have all my recent game discs, so that's no problem. ^__^

As for Vista... O.O Oh, hell no! I never touch anything new; it has to be into it's third version or two years old before I'll go near it. And all the stuff that Vista won't support? I cannot afford to buy all new software. Sorry, Bill. =p

Back when we started with computers, we were Apple to the core. (sorry...) IIE and IIC; had a total of five of them. Then Jobs went control nazi with the Mac, and we shifted over to DOS, then I moved to Windows. I've worked with Macs only twice and both times were so infuriatingly frustrating that I wanted to drop-kick the machine into the next county. >.< I'm just not geeky enough to appreciate whatever it is that makes Mac people cuddle them. >_>

Wufei is just a mess of conflicting emotions where Heero is concerned. Poor guy. O.O I'll get him sorted out eventually. Even if it kills him. ^__^

I started out on Macs at the same time yu did and then switched to windows when the whole university did. I'm back on a mac because a) don't worry about malware and b) we have one full time mac technician/consultant for the whole university. We're really short staffed techwise, but that is another story. I became her back up when she's not around, between doing my help desk stuff.

You don't think that you know everything, which is a good thing.

Also VISTA is so macish at times that it hurts.

Trowa needs to 'paw of doom' Wufei to knock some sense in his head.

And Duo? I get the impression that Heero was more antsy about cabana elves then he was. And I am sure that the CE knew that Duo was a 'do not look, doo not touch' client.

Yeah, Home and Pro aren't huge amounts of different. You might want to switch to 'classic view', that might help... I hate the new look of XP, but then I take to change like a duck takes to the tar pits. >_>
But yay for working computer again! And hang on to that tech support place... they sound like a good group. ^____^
Most programs can't be transfered though, they have to be reloaded so even though they transfered the data, the games and such will probably have to be put back on.

You know, I kept staring at the thing last night wondering WTF?! It wasn't until this morning that I realised it was the 'view' that was bugging me. O.o I plead withdrawal psychosis... I changed my desktop and my view and my color and I am much more relaxed now. ^__^ Got my Duo desktop back, my classic view and my lilac colors; I am a happy lizard.

These guys were just fantastic! ^__^ The guy took almost an hour to show me what they did; even opened the box up to point out the features (and the number of fans!) and found that he'd forgotten to transfer the extra memory stick, so he pulled that from the old box and added it in - 768 now! Yay! Any problems I am having are because I'm clueless. ^__^ He told me to call if I need to be walked through anything. He was much nicer and more helpful than the place where I got the old computer. In fact, I will hereby state, for the record, that if anyone in north San Diego county needs comp help, try J&B Computers in San Marcos; they're great! ^__^ And it did not cost me an arm and a leg, either! My kid was even sniffing around the Dells they sell and making noises about getting one of his own in a few months. ^__^ I may even have to drag the RM there too.

You know, I think I remember that about the programs from when I got the last computer, but that guy was rather unhelpful about explaining things, so I can't be sure. I did have to load my MS Works, but this time I loaded everything and it took less than half an hour! O.O Wow! I just have to unearth my disc box and do the games now. I really need a Cubis fix. ^___^

I loaded my games in this morning; took longer to get the discs out of their jewel cases than to do the actual load. *snerk!*

I had Word open last night and it just looked bizarre. O.o I wouldn't mind the XP view if it came in other colors, but blue, green or silver is pretty limited.

Oh, just thought of a question for after-interview. Can I make my desktop look the way I want it to, or do I have to settle for their view? O.o

It's mostly new; kind of a robo-comp. ^__^ The only things from the old one are the CD/DVD drive and the 512 memory stick. I'm so relieved to be back in business though. I don't like being netless. O.O

Maybe one of these days Wufei will realise he doesn't need to compete with Heero. ^___^

The place sells Dells, so they just slotted my DVD into a Dell. It came with 256 and I had a perfectly good 512 stick so he added that and just transferred my data. ^__^ I like this place; they weren't snotty to me. ^__^ The guy even managed to follow the kid's rambling sort of conversation. I'll do business with them. ^.o
