I will never promise content again. =.= Totally feeling like the biggest schlub in the world. Bleh.
So, shit happened and didn't have the decency to just happen and leave, oh no! It had to hang around for a few laughs and some primo finger pointing. =P Finally got it shoved out the door and it took off after one of the neighbors. >_>
So, here's some more BFB, late but hopefully unlamented.
BFB – Part 105 – Satisfaction
Gisela was thrilled to hear that Ctik was now re-homed. A little surprised to learn that he would be living with an actual demon, but I reassured her that Farq was the least demon-like demon ever and that they should get along great. She promised to pass the news on to the rest of the family, as they were making a run to the new house.
We walked the floors checking every room and alcove from the attics down to the sub-basement and cellars, making sure that nothing had been left behind. Even the gargoyles were gone. I made myself a note to remember to ask Ctik tonight if I could buy one of them. How did one price a gargoyle anyway?
The house looked enormous, or even more enormous, empty. The rooms and halls echoed. Our voices bounced crazily and we had to speak into each others ear to be understood. The sheer size of the place must have been a daunting job to take down and reassemble; I wondered if the same clan of Dwarfs still existed. Maybe Ctik could hire them to renovate his new home. With Farq's approval, of course.
The whole notion of Ctik remodeling the small farmhouse made me snicker. Farq didn't seem to mind, although he'd been a lot more perky at the mention of a new barn for his adored animals. I should probably ask Ctik just what he intended and warn Ovalia as well.
“Oh, just so you're aware, Ctik has plans to upgrade and modernize the demon's home. Farq – our name for him – was pretty stunned when Ctik mentioned it last night.”
“He sounds adorable, if ever a demon can be adorable,” Gisela smiled.
“Oddly enough, he really is. Managed to get himself some Human money and bought his place, and now he keeps goats and sheep and chickens and more. They all seem to have names and personalities, too. I mentioned my yarn thing to him when he told me about the sheep, so my next job is to find someone who can turn the fleece into yarn for him. He hasn't had them long enough yet to shear, so he may need help with that too. And the goats are miniature goats, about the size of a midsize dog.”
“It sounds wonderful. Ctik loves animals, but we didn't have any because Miles was a jerk about it. Hmm. Maybe I'll just get myself a nice big protective dog after we've settled in,” she said thoughtfully, with a bit of a smirk. “An early warning in case Miles thinks he can show up.”
“I can ask if anyone at the Castle knows any good breeders.”
“Thank you, Duo. One of the few good things to come out of this mess is that we met you and the wonderful people in your office.” Without warning, she swooped in and gave me a hug. “Thank you so much.”
“Ah, you're welcome, Gisela. It is my job, but I like Ctik and what's happened is just dirty, so I'm glad I could help out.”
“Well, we all appreciate it.” This time she shook my hand and smiled. “Don't be a stranger; come visit.”
“Thanks; I will,” I promised. I caught my porter then and went back to the office to write up my morning notes.

Date: 2017-03-26 11:53 pm (UTC)I think Ctik and Farq would both be amused by a gargoyle on the roof. Or maybe a pair at the entrance to the property. Maybe ask Ovalia if she'd like a cat gargoyle. ^__~
