17 - Ii Kibarashi – Dinner with a Friend


Trowa sprawled out on the floor, using a single claw to gently flip the pages of his book. He loved reading animal-themed mysteries, and this one featured intelligent, talking cats. What fun!

And goddess knows, Wufei was no fit company right now.

The Were-Dragon was currently curled in the lounger, hugging a pillow to his chest and giving out distressingly sorrowful sighs every few minutes.

Finally Trowa let out a sigh of his own.

“Wufei, what’s wrong with you?”

“Do you think they’ll be kind to him? What if they don’t like him? He’s only a young Banshee; what if they’re mean to him?” he murmured miserably.

Trowa rolled his green eyes and sighed again.

“They are not going to be mean to him. He is Heero’s Chosen; they will love him. And even if they didn’t love him, they certainly wouldn’t be mean to him.” Under his breath he muttered, “if they were going to be mean to anybody, they’d have been mean to you, you ridiculous lizard.”

“It’s just… Heero’s family…”

And there it was, in a nutshell.

With a grumble, Trowa heaved himself to his feet and pawed a bookmark into his book before approaching the recliner and the feeling-terminally-sorry-for-himself Dragon. He put his front feet on the edge of the seat to peer down at his friend.

“Yes. Heero’s family; not yours. Two totally different entities. Shove over and quit hogging the whole chair.”

Wufei glared at him. “I was here first!”

“And I’m here now.” He climbed into the chair, wedging himself in beside the sinuous black and scarlet Dragon.

“You’re squashing me!”

Trowa snorted and wrapped a golden-furred leg around the grumpy creature.

“Just deal with it, dork. And while you’re dealing, order a pizza for dinner.”

“I hate cats!”

“Sure you do.”

Wufei snatched up his cellphone and hit the button for their favorite pizza place.

“Rotten cat,” he grumbled as it began to ring.




And there's a weekend pass to the Chocolate Mine to anyone who notices... a certain echo of popular literature.

Is it classical literature? Probably something I missed reading, when I was younger.

I always like your stories. Sorry your missing Some of your "special" friends, hope you can get by with some pathetic standins...

ps. I am still struggling with the picture of Duo glomping Hee-dragon... it's just RL kinda got in the way for a month or so...

I'll get back to the drawing after my 3 kiddo's graduate in June.

Three graduates?! Holy dragon toes! And yet, you are still forming coherent sentences! Wow! I was a basket case with just one...

Forget the literary reference; you deserve a pass just for having three grads. Feel free to hide and scarf chocolate as often as needed.

It may end up being something that only a psycho dragon would notice anyway...

You make pictures; that's pretty ichiban-special to me...

*snicker* chocolate and caffine! I am living off these two food sources! The fact that my kiddos have *whispers-shhh* home studied, dosen't help my nerves at all!

I can't even imagine doing that... I just don't have what it takes to home-school. And it probably wouldn't have worked well for me anyway, as my son is autistic.

All of my kiddos are above average, and my youngest has aspbergers a high function autism... yea it's a challenge. But having my youngest put in a harmful situation in public school, was unacceptable!!! Therefore I home study them. I have taught school before, just never thought I'd be doing it for my kids. *grins and shrugs*

Mine has asbergers too. He has the complicatipon of being mildly schizophrenic also. We kind of lucked out with our district; he was in a really good program with teachers and aides who were just great. He's in a post secondary program now at the local community collage.

Trowa isn't reading 'The Cat Who...' series, is he? I don't read mysteries (I don't have the will-power) but my Mom likes mysteries and is always waiting for new ones of those, but she's never said if the cat actually talks...

The mystery is by Shirley Rousseau Murphy; featuring Joe Grey (It's me, your cat.) and Dulcie. Coolest cat mysteries I've ever read.

The pop lit thing is in the line "He’s only a young Banshee; what if they’re mean to him?"

To be perfectly honest, I didn't 'hear' it when I wrote it; it wasn't until after I'd watched HP & TSS again that I realised what I'd done. But hey, you snickered.
