Some people just appall me. I was out today running a couple of close-in errands. On the way home, I stopped for the light at our big intersection (so-called because the rail tracks run parallel to the boulevard and the cross street has a dedicated right-turn lane, so you really have to pay attention) while the other side of the street got their left-turn arrow. A guy in a wheel chair was crossing (he started across with the light, but it's a wide intersection and he was under his own power so not exactly zipping) and he reached my side of the intersection (three lanes plus the right-turn lane) about the same time our light turned green. So me and the guy next to me just sit there waiting on him. No big deal; I'm not in a hurry and pedestrians (and wheelchairs) have the right-of-way. Took the guy about six seconds to finish crossing and I could tell he was trying to hurry, but neither of us were moving until he actually reached the sidewalk. Like I said, no biggy.

Guy behind us starts freaking out and leaning on his horn like a damn fuckwit. We ignored him and he make a perfect twat of himself until we started moving.

Seriously, dude? WTF is wrong with you?! >_<

And then he had to roar past us up the road when he had the chance, barreling through a residential area like he was John Force at Pomona. >_< I would so like to be able to melt the engines of those assholes. *sigh*

Anyway, just needed to blow that off. >_>

Well, hopefully, karma had him blow past a cop a mile or so on down the road. Or maybe hit a really big pot hole and bust a tire. :P

Sadly, he would be more likely to take out a pedestrian or someone's pet in that area. >.< I can hope that he blows his head gasket or such, though. ^___^

Ugh. That's just freaking obnoxious. Stupid people have no patients especially when there's someone crossing the road. D:

Though I did piss off a girl who was in front of me at the street light to come into school. She was speeding all over the place (driving a mustang), pulled in front of me 'cause she thought she would get there faster and then she wasn't paying attention when the light turned green so I scared the shit out of her when it turned by honking my horn :D That was probably not the best thing to do...but I was annoyed >.<

I get that all the time around here. People come down the hill in a huge rush, but there is a light at the boulevard, as well as train tracks with trains both directions every half hour. The odds that you won't have to stop are pretty damn slim. I get passed by anyone behind me, but if I time it right and luck is with me, I can roll through the light as it turns green. As opposed to the hurry-ups who've had to stop. ^___^ Little pleasures...

Yes, I love it when the timing is right and you pass the green light and they don't. ^-^ Little pleasures indeed...

*snort* I learned to drive in the era of gas lines and rationing; I learned from the get-go how to not waste gas. ^___^

Yeah us younger generation just don't understand how we are lucky...though I wouldn't mind experiencing the 30s and 40s...what I get for being in the late 80s >.< Ah well. ^-^

It would be so nice if we could melt their engines... and make them ride big wheels around instead of cars until they learn some patience...

*snicker* Just imagine if every suspended driver had their car confiscated and had to ride a big wheel. ^____^ Ahhhhhh...!

While there's no excuse for acting like an impatient ass, it is entirely possible that he just didn't see the old man crossing the street.  I know there have been times when I've wondered what the holdup was, and then noticed later on that there was a pedestrian or some such.  A 'shorter' fellow in a wheelchair could easily hide in front of a truck.

And also to be fair, I was once really pissed off on the road by a grumpy asshole in a wheelchair. -_-

The road leading up to the intersection curves, so you pretty much can't miss seeing people in the crosswalks, even low-to-the-ground people. That's when I saw the wheelchair guy and I could see he wasn't going to make it all the way before the light turned. ^___^

There are several wheelchairs in that area, so it's hard to go a full week without seeing one. There's one guy who *is* a jerk; he'll slow down whenever people are waiting and has a habit of flipping drivers off even if they don't honk at him. >.< Then again, he's young and I have a suspicion he was a drive-by victim, so he may just be really pissed. *shrugs*

Today's guy wasn't that one. This is one of the older guys; I see him in the library every so often and on the train sometimes.

I had a pissy neighbor once who used a wheelchair sometimes. He liked to roll in the street "to piss off the drivers". O.o He's lucky he never became a hood ornament.

Ugh, my old dude had a motorized wheelchair and a freaking horn attached to it, and he wasn't afraid to use it.  I was halfway out of a driveway of a parking lot, looking for oncoming traffic to see if it was okay to turn right, when I hear this horn honking at me and turn to see this grumpy old dude in his wheelchair glaring at me from the sidewalk.  Honestly, I don't remember if I didn't see him at all, or saw him but thought he was far enough away that it didn't matter (didn't realize he was motor-powered and therefore fast).  I backed up to clear the way for him (though I say, if he had just waited another two seconds, I would have just turned out and not been in his way anymore) and then the guy wheels in front of me, glaring at me the whole time, pulls up to my window, and gestures for me to roll my window down.  Wtf.  Okay, so I crack my window open, and then he informs me grumpily that this is a sidewalk and sidewalks are not meant to be blocked by cars.  I bite my tongue, because I'm not really certain what I'm doing in this situation.  Then he tells me to go back to Japan before turning and motoring away.  WTF.  I don't remember if he was wearing a cap with an army badge on it, or if I just imagine it in retrospect, but boy did that guy have a chip on his shoulder.  (and let's not even mention the fact that, if he hates asians, boy was he in the wrong neighborhood...)

O_o Oh my. A gentleman with Issues. Yuck. >.< There are some of those around here and I find them curious for the same reason. If you don't like people who look unlike your white-bread self, what are you doing in a heavily military area with an inexhaustible supply of non-white-bread folks? wtf.

Was it an actual wheelchair or one of those teabagger limos? >_> I about got run over by one of those in Walmart last week. *sigh*

My guess is that the old dude got stuck living with his kid or something, so he didn't exactly get a choice. =p

You mean like, joystick-controlled vs... John Deere lawnmower?  I think it was an 'actual' wheelchair, but the way those things zip along, it's not too hard to get run over by one of them, too.

Those scooter things are the ones that tick me off, like the handicapped shopping things at the grocery or big box stores. >.< I mean, if a person needs something to get around, no big deal, but at least try to watch where you're going while doing it. I'd like to not need one for a while longer. O.o

Sunhawk beat me to the comment I was going to make. A couple years back I got an idiot on the freeway to get himself caught. Some dude was acting stupid behind me, so I purposely prevented him from being impatient and getting in front by slowing down when he was behind me, then speeding up a little to block him from cutting in. The friend I was with though talked me down a bit and got me to stop before something bad happened. Good thing too, because the moron zoomed past us, doing some serious lane dancing, right past a CHP car. Damn, but sometimes, there really is some small amount of justice in this world. And though I may not be a perfect or even really great driver, I try my best to not be an arsehole. Some people though, really need a boot up the arse.

There are lots of semi-rural two-lane roads around here that I hate using because the locals drive like an Andretti, while I'm trying to stay on the freaking road at 35. O.O Even though I'm old and have plenty of insurance, I do not want to be putting Akachan into a ditch because some twit is late to work. >_>

I will admit to doing a slow-down on a guy behind me once... but he was so close to me, I couldn't see the front of his bike in my mirror. It was also an unlighted two-lane road after dark. >.< I reported him to the gate guard on my way back and they knew who he was. ^___^

Oh, I did have the satisfaction of seeing a deranged maniac get stopped by the CHP a few miles after passing me (I was doing 75 and he blew past like I was standing still). ^___^ Me and a whole bunch of other people. I think I heard cheering as we all rolled past...

Hello!
This is totally off topic, but with the above incident, maybe it won't be unwelcome?
Twisted Hilarity recc'd on Delicious your GW fanfic "The Trouble With Chibis" and I, being no fool about anything she likes, went to go read it at Gundam Wing Addiction.
I am so pleased I did.
So well written! So readable! So Amusing!
Kudos!
Thank you for your time.

Well, a big spiky dragon thank-you to both of you! ^___^ I'm afraid Chibi has been... um... 'on hiatus', shall we say, for a while, but it is not abandoned. One of these days the Chibi hamsters will get tired of tropical paradises and return to work. ^____^

Thank you!
