I finally managed to get my film photos developed. My old pharmacy (where I dropped all of my processing) got sucked up by the giant CVS, so this was my first run on their processing. *sigh* Everybody has a different way of downloading the photos from disc to computer. =p I just got used to the Adobe thing for the digital and now they've discontinued it. The comes-with-XP app confuses me, so I don't play around with these things as much as I used to. What you see is what I shot. O_o And yeah, if I could afford it, I'd totally go buy something consistent and learn how to use it. I'm older than tiktaalik, though, so it takes longer for stuff to sink in. >_< Anyway.

First, a few floral arrangements. Some of the arrangements are a stretch to meet the yearly theme of the fair; this year was music.

An Obama dragon! ^___^ I do so want one of those. I'd even like the companion McCain gargoyle. ^__~

A blue-ribbon gator! My mom made something similar to this for my kid when he was little. He drug the thing around so that it finally wore out when he was about 14. ^___^

More stone garden critters and artwork.

Random female bungee jumper. She jumped because her guy was too scared. ^___^

I have another roll with more fair pics as well as some home stuff, but it's not quite finished.

Speaking of home stuff... A recent project for someone very special. ^____^

In progress...

Finished...

Detail...

And that's it for today. ^____^

What's that? Fic? Umm..... I'll have to check with the bunnies... O_o

A lot of the florals end up in my jigsaw program; they make super puzzles. ^____^

I'm rather pleased with that afghan. Irish green for an Irish kid. ^_____^

I really like that stuffed croc! He's so cute!! Was that a bug playing golf on top of the fountain??

Love the afghan! (But you knew that!)

The croc was made of something novelty; neckties, I think. It was behind glass, so it was hard to get a clear pic. ^___^ He was about 3-4 feet long.

That is indeed a golf-playing ant. ^___^ I think he followed me home, too... O_o

That's the most photogenic of the current lot. ^___^ Well, most photogenic with MY cameras and MY level of not quite skill.

Yay pictures! ^___^

*3*

I wonder what the Obama Dragon is made of... it's so funny! ^__^

The Necktie!Gator is wonderful, it reminds me of good old Mr. Green! ;D

...Will you take me to the fair with you next time? *chibi eyes*

(O)(O)(O)

ObamaDragon is probably a commercial resin-stone; it seems to be popular for this sort of piece. Looks like marble, but not fragile or expensive. ^___^

I immediately thought of Mr Green when I saw that! ^___^

Show up in late June and you're on. ^____^

For some reason it makes me think of a soap sculture! (...Although that would be impractical... xP)

Did you know that in my house you're usually referred to with the Italian equivalent of something like Mrs. Gator because of him? ^__~

I'd like to go back to Cali at some point - I really liked it there! ^__~

Mmmm... It does look a bit like soapstone... ^___^

That should be Ms Gator, btw. ^__~ What does it look like in Italian? I could go look it up but that never ends well... >_>

Yes, you do! Just think: Stanford, Cal Tech, probably someplace else I don't know about. ^___~

Ok, I'm doin' this LJ thing today, damn it! I will vanquish the three pages of back log. O.o
The floral pics are neat, though I'm just not seeing 'music' in some of them. ^^; That stuffed gator is freaking unreal! My itty bitty amis are hiding in awe and shame. O.o
The afghan really came out cool! I like that motif. Lucky baby!
There should be at least one layette set you know... *ducks*

From: [identity profile] lavendarlizard.livejournal.com
Yeah, you had to get up close and personal on some of them to find the music. That really takes a lot of imagination to do in flowers. ^____^ I love the arrangements regardless.

Isn't he cool? ^____^ I'd love to make something like that... maybe a quilt pieced gator. Alas, I am sucky at real quilting. I know what to do, just can't get the hands to cooperate. =p

Layette? O_O What is this "layette" thing you speak of...? *hides*

I had a pattern around here somewhere that was kind of cool. Like a gown thing. It was even knitted! I made the set for the kid's christening gown, but then the hubby's cousin produced this fancy thing and we used that. Not that I cared since I was mostly the uninvolved person watching from the side-lines going, 'Ok, and you do WHAT? And... why?' :D
Wonder where the pattern got to...

From: [identity profile] lavendarlizard.livejournal.com
I've always found that whole christening thing to be a waste of productive time. ^____^ Heh. Just like church...

I may have some layette patterns somewhere... I may even have an original pattern that my mother dreamed up.... O.o

Ooooooh... you should find that!

Depends on whether she ever wrote it down. ^__~ She had a bunch of stuff in her head, like her sweater patterns. She knit top-down sweaters almost exclusively and she never had to make any calculations; just cast on the right number of stitches and made a sweater. ^___^ I had about six of the things as a kid. >_> Alas, I still have to do all the calculations on paper before I start or I end up with... something weird. O.o

You know... your mother would have intimdated me to the point that I'd have never picked up a pair of needles! ^o^ I have to have a pattern and even then it doesn't come out right half the time! ^o^

I think the sweaters were her particular brand of autistic behavior. ^___^ She could crochet and she even helped make a damn thread bed cover once, but she didn't like to crochet. I could beat her at that. ^___~

She only knit in the car, also. Since she didn't drive, I think it was her way of not backseat driving and making my dad or I crazy. ^___^

I need to find a gauge for my sweaters and stick with it and maybe after three or four I won't have to make calculations either. ^____^ You'll know when I do by the sweater in your mail. *snork!*

I mostly knit flat stuff... like scarves and (once) a baby afghan. The closest I've ever come to knitting clothes was that baby layette thing. I suppose the principle is the same, but somehow I can't see me coming up with anything that a person would want to wear out in public! ^o^ And if a sweater heads this way... just remember that I is fluffy. ^____^

I just hate trying to sew knitted pieces together. That's the one area that I seem to be head-blind. Crochet is no problem, but knitting always ends up skewed and then I get mad and cry. >_< Used to, I could toss it to mom and demand that she "make it fit!" Can't do that anymore. *sigh* I'm thinking of maybe sitting down with the ladies in VC and seeing if they can show me.

I have in mind to make myself a cotton sweater for winter, with 3/4 sleeves and a hood. I just need to figure out the yarn I want to use and do a swatch for my starting stitches and after that it's all auto pilot. ^___^

You need to let me know just how fluffy you is, cuz remember, I is foofy too. ^___~

Have you run across the thread on Ravelry yet about blocking? Where a bunch of people posted the before and after pics? O.O Wow. We won't even get into how lame I feel, but now I want to block something... I wonder if it would make the sewing together part easier?
I ran across a pattern for a long sweatery tunic thing. It looks mostly straight... I'm wondering if I can manage it. >_>
Hopefully, I will be less fluffy sooner or later, but this whole diet thing resulted in the loss of about four pounds... and that has been it. =_=

Oooooh...! I have not gotten to that, yet. O.O I kinda-sorta know how to do it from watching Mom all those years, but I lack the space for a block at the moment. And the knit pieces *to* block. ^__~

I made a sweater-thing once upon a time (first project sort of thing) that was just two rectangles of stockinette with top and bottom borders of garter. All it required for seaming was the shoulder seams and the sides, leaving a few inches open for ease at the bottom. It was sleeveless, but you can always make simple rectangle sleeves. Hmm... I have been annoyed at the lack of cotton sweaters in the shops for winter; maybe I'll try that again for myself. Oh, I know! I can add the seaming stitch! That'll take care of the sewing. ^____^ You realize you're an enabler, right? O_~

Remember; exercise replaces fat with muscle and muscle is heavier than fat. ^___^ I can tell better by how my clothes fit. Hang in there, birdy!

^______^

It's amazing what a differene it makes in the piece. And so cool that people are posting before/after pics! Sometimes you can hardly believe it's the same piece. O.o
I'm seriously wondering what it would do for that scarf I made my Mom. I think that's the closest I've ever come to lace.
Enabler? Me? ^_______^

I think I need to admit that the Dew needs to completely go. Even on the weekend. Even when we go out. ;_;

None at all?! O_O Not even diet???

There has to be a reason the weight is just stuck. *huffs* I eat oat bran for breakfast, dry Cheerios for lunch, and fish or chicken for dinner. With veggies. *bleh* Snacking is kept pretty much to apple sauce or mandarin oranges. With a half an hour on the treadmill every damn night. What the hell, man? O.o
But I'm still sucking down those Dews on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Maybe they just need to go? I really hate the taste of diet, and I figure if I'm going to have to work THAT hard to adjust my taste, I might as well adjust to something healthy? O.o Right?
Uh... am I whining? >_> Oooops?

Weight is hard to get rid of (specially once it gets all comfy and makes itself at home). =p There are plateaus where nothing you do seems to make a difference, and then suddenly you start losing again. O_o Those are the points at which most people get discouraged and buy a whole triple chocolate cheesecake for dinner. >_> Don't do it! Drop the Dew for a couple of weeks and see if that gets anything moving. ^____^ Maybe if you don't drink any of it for a while, you can bring it back as diet. ^_~

Can you plateau after four pounds? ~_~ I DO think some of it is the fat/muscle thing a little bit... the jeans are a wee bit looser. Not enough to even think about a size change yet, but it's only been a month... right? O.o

Date: 2009-08-25 01:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lavendarlizard.livejournal.com
Well, it took more than a month to gain it, so it'll take more than a month to lose it. ^__~ I've been told that one-half to a pound a week is good; you are more likely to be building new habits and less likely to do the yoyo thing.

Hang in there! ^__^
