random observations
Mar. 6th, 2009 01:19 pmIt's Friday and the week has been somewhat surreal. >_> Had to go out this morning; did a bit of opportunistic shopping (that's the best kind, unless you're almost broke; then it's just torture) and made some observations therefrom. ^___^
Observation #1: Joann's *really* needs to do something about their section of craft books. It always looks like it was stocked by a team of hyperactve marmosets. >.<
Observation #2: Walmart stocks more of the kind of yarn (sewing) needles I needed today than a fabric/craft store. O.o
Observation #3: Whilst cruising BigLots (for anyone who doesn't have one nearby, many of them used to be called Pic 'N Save and P&S was the great-grand-daddy of the "dollar" stores; good shopping, if you're willing to be picky), I happened upon my favorite style of underwear at 90% off what the 'real' stores charge, so I grabbed the only two packs in my size. That's not the observation; this is: what the hell is *with* all the damn sticky tape holding these two-pair-per-pack to their cardboard packaging?! O_O I counted - *12* pieces of tape for each package. Are they afraid the panties are going to stage an escape or what?! >_>
Observation #4: I'm in a drive-thru line, waiting my turn. The guy behind me is honking. >_< Should I just ignore him or should I get out of my truck, walk back to him and gently explain that it's lunchtime and the line is long, while jumping up and down on the hood of his Cobra Mustang? O_o
That's it for today. My kid wishes to spend his job-generated bonus bucks tomorrow, so I will be squeezing into a too-small parking lot at the local Goodwill, taking my life in my hands at Target and attempting to rectify a lot-number error at Michael's. I may have more observations. ^___^ Or maybe even fic. We'll see.

Date: 2009-03-06 10:28 pm (UTC)Anything and everything is fic fodder. ^___^ It's entirely possible that somewhere, someday, someone will have a 'chat' with a honking nitwit. ^__~

Date: 2009-03-07 11:16 am (UTC)Our JoAnn's is getting sadder and sadder with the choice of selections it has in just about anything. And the craft store is being overrun by scrapbooking. I crochet and it's getting hard to get any kind of patterns to do anything without going online. And half the yarns have apparently wandered off to greener pastures. Which ain't in Delaware, unfortunately,
Some people seem to think that honking their horn will make everything move faster because they are in a hurry. Waiting is so beneath them. They're the ones in line at the store complaining because there is one person in front of them and why isn't there another line open.

Date: 2009-03-08 06:27 am (UTC)Michael's has posters announcing a whole "new yarn department" the spring, but I won't hold my breath. >_> There are three Michael's in the immediate area and not one of them has a decent yarn section. =p
I hate honkers. Doesn't matter how important you think you are, wait your damn turn. >.< If I'd been wearing my cowboy boots, I might not have been able to restrain myself. *sigh*
