ROTF!

I used to have to tie the tree to the curtain rods to keep the cats from tipping it when they tried to climb...

I used to have this truly amazing tree stand that made the tree, regardless of size, virtually untippable. Probably the only reason I never had to actually kill one of them. >.< I sure picked up enough ornaments from the floor and under furniture. And kept the alcohol handy for the pounced-upon ankles. O.o

I must have had a wimp-ass cat, because he would always kind of sniff at it from a couple of yards away and then... hide from it. >_>

The Siamese just ignored the tree, but the NC kittens made a pact with the devil - I mean the dog - and the four of them managed to denude the tree. >.<

Next the chihuahua-chasing cat began hiding in the base of the tree to terrorise dogs and ankles. >_>

Then the assorted 'new' kittens over the years made the tree their private playground. And finally, the last year we had the tree up, Salem (much younger, slimmer and spunkier than she is now) found a way to bend the top over to make herself a nest on the top. Hence, the xmas kitteh-star. *sigh* Wish I'd had a digital camera back then. ^___^

I guess I've just been really lucky and never realized it. I don't think we've ever had a cat that paid any real attention to the trees. Of course, when I was a kid we had a fake tree, and it was pretty stiff and prickly, so maybe that deterred them.
