bad week...

To go with the bad month, the bad year, the bad life... >_>

Started out realising that much as I would like to be checking my blood sugar like a good little reptile, I won't be able to until I can afford the damn test strips. >.< Maybe next month.

Then I moved on to discovering that because of the housing/banking/financial services meltdown, the ranks of the unemployed are now filled with people who are younger, better educated, and way more customer-service oriented than I am. I am so fucked. *headdesk*

And best of all, I seem to be developing a phobia of some sort, like agouraphobia (however the damn thing is spelled) with a touch of claustrophobia and a heavy dose of paranoia. The paranoia may not be misplaced; I'm wondering if something really is out to get me. O.o

Wednesday afternoon, some dumbass kid backed into the fire hydrant right next to my parking space at my apartment and busted the damn thing clean off. Instant geyser 40 feet into the air. And right back down again, right onto my poor truck. >_<

By the time the wind had shifted enough, and it became abundantly clear, after twenty minutes, that the water was not going to be shut off anytime soon, (a whole herd of fire trucks, sheriffs and maintenance people and not one with the tool or the authority to shut the water off) the truck bed was almost full of water and the inside carpets were floating.

Guess Ford doesn't build 'em water tight, like Volkswagon Beetles used to be. >_>

I took a chance and managed to get into the truck without bringing a whole flood with me and got it moved out from under the geyser and parked so that the water could hopefully drain after I bailed as much as I could by hand. Fortunately, it didn't get the seats wet or damage any electricals, as far as I can tell. Unfortunately, my three Thomas Guides are now a sodden mass of paper pulp. >.<

The kid has insurance - with a company I actually recognise! - and I have opened a claim. I want my damn carpets cleaned or replaced and my map books replaced. Those things are expensive! And then I want the kid drop-kicked around the block a few times. >_< Dumbass.

“You know, Duo, you could probably train Morgan to help you out. Most dogs can be trained to do helper dog things.” Trowa raised an eyebrow at the large dog currently examining him with something akin to disdain.

“Morgan? Riiiight. She’s not a Lab or a Golden, Trowa; even I know that!”

“Seriously; you should give it a try. She’s obedience-trained, isn’t she?”

“Um… Sort of… She does the basic stuff. When she feels like it,” he muttered under his breath.

“Morgan; lie down,” said Trowa firmly. The dog blinked at him, then eased down into a prone position. Trowa nodded to himself, not noticing Duo’s smirk. He stood up and gestured to the dog. “Morgan; come.” He walked away from the bench and Morgan obediently stood up and followed him. “Morgan; heel.” The dog fell into step with him in perfect off-lead heeling. Trowa walked around the workshop and returned to his stool. “Morgan; sit.” Morgan sat next to him.

“She’s very good, Duo; I’m sure she could learn some of the easy tasks.”

“You really think so, Trowa?” said Duo innocently. “I’m not exactly a dog trainer…”

“I can come out and work with her. Shouldn’t take too long.”

Duo looked at his dog, who was staring at Trowa. “Thanks, Tro. That’s really bra- uh, great of you.” He grinned at his friend.

She is just... staggeringly stupid. (>)_(>)

Fortunately, my favorite grocery has a house brand that's low sugar, cheap and even tastes pretty damn good. ^___^

Well, they advertise themselves as "your hometown market" and since they got started in my actual hometown, I kinda have a soft spot for them anyway. ^___^

Palin... omfg... O_O I can actually feel my stomach drop when I try to imagine her anywhere near the red phone. The real WTF?! for me is that there *are* Republican women who would have been excellant choices! O.O And instead he went for the idiot. >_> McCain is clearly around the bend now.

I know! but it actually is working for him! That's the most mind boggling part! A lot of people LOVE her. And to top it all off, political analysts all over the globe are gagging from the sheer stupidity of the woman and then applauding McCain for finding someone who can talk to the "common people" at their own level... god....

:D I grew up with big grocery chains. I have this tiny fondness for farmers markets, but that's probably nothing to do with the actual food and more to do with the memories.
