Most generic meds and a disconcerting amount of 'nutraceuticals' are made by contract manufacturers, both in the US/Canada and overseas. I used to do purchasing for a contract manufacturer and the bottom line is everything for them. The low-on-the-food-chain companies will cut every damn corner they can and buy stuff from India, China and other questionable places. O.o Part of the reason I'm no longer employed there is that I butted heads with the "boss" over some of his sources. His philosophy was "It's cheap; who cares what's in it." I'm all for making a profit, but I didn't want to freaking poison people to do it. O_O

That's why I don't buy nutraceuticals anymore; no guarantee what's really in them or where it came from. The FDA Doesn't have much power over those people. >_>
