Almost finished... ^___^ Thank you all for coming; I'm here all year.

Challenge – AU

A coyote-like howl made Heero look around. “What was that?” he muttered before noticing the strained look on Trowa’s face. “Trowa?”

The noise came again, closer this time. A dog began to howl in the distance. Another began to bark.

Trowa sighed heavily. “You said you wanted to meet him,” he said in resignation. “Looks like now is the time.”

Heero’s eyebrows shot up. “That’s *him*?”

It sounded like a pack of wild animals approaching.

“I warned you,” Trowa muttered under his breath.

From around the corner, a mountain bike came flying, a blur of green, red and purple standing on the pedals. A pack of dogs bounded after the unearthly apparition snarling and barking furiously. In the space of a few seconds, the rider slewed the bicycle sideways and laid it down, bounding off and up, arms raised threateningly, and bellowed “*GO AWAY*!” at the now-frightened and backpedaling animals. With much skidding and scraping of claws the dogs got themselves turned around and galloped back the way they’d come.

The rider watched them go, hands on hips and snorted derisively. “McDonald!” he yelled suddenly. “Next time I’ll serve them for fucking dinner, you piss-ant old coot!”

Heero stared wide-eyed at the man his new friend had labeled a ‘nutcase’.

Butt-length auburn hair swirled everywhere around the lean figure and the scowl on his face would have made big-city muggers think twice, but it was his clothing that drew Heero’s stare. Bicycle cleats gave him an odd heel-down stance. Bright green and purple socks climbed to his knees and turned over in tasseled cuffs. A kilt of green and purple with a yellow thread accenting the plaid swirled around his knees. Something approximating a sporran crouched just below his waist. His cherry-red t-shirt was lettered in purple – “...and the horse you rode in on!” – across the front. Other than the obvious scowl, his expression was impossible to read given the bright yellow goggles obscuring the upper half of his face.

Heero blinked.

Trowa sighed. “Geez, Duo; why don’t you just use a different street?”

The bicyclist spun on his cleats and clacked across the sidewalk to glare up at Trowa. “Because it’s a public road that my taxes helped pay for and maintain, and there are fucking leash laws in this godforsaken town!” he snarled.

“And you enjoy the drama,” Trowa finished shortly.

I used to have a dream of replacing all the Marine's dress blues with blue kilts and red tanks. ^____^ When you work on base, you get lots of fantasies...

The idea of Duo is something wild and colorful is so much more fun than all that black. And put me on the list of kilt fans.

NO idea what's going on here, but sounds like one heck of an entrance.
and if Trowa's a 'new friend'... Heero must by now be really wondering about the locals.

My nana was born in Sweden, and its Scots, Irish, Welsh (with a wee bit of amerind) from the other 3 quarters. I decided years ago that, since the vikings had raided and *ahem* borrowed, and left things all over the british isle, I could pretty much claim to be all viking.

Loki and me, we'd hang..
