I have an excuse, anyway. O.O I am currently doing a full systems meltdown, so there won't be much in the way of coherence this week. Maybe next... O.o

Did you know that it's possible to steal *just* the lens cover to a vehicle's tail-light? I didn't, until Monday morning. =p Another damned expense I do not need. >_<

Not to mention an unscheduled drive to SD this morning in the pouring rain. Double-=p. Southern Californians do not respond well to water falling from the sky. The SUV resting on its roof on the I-15 was proof of that...






Three hours and five full trees later, Trowa called a halt, pointing out that they would need to shower and clean up for lunch. Wufei gave up possession of the chainsaw only reluctantly, with an almost loving caress of the power head.

“Don’t we have to clean the saws?” he asked suddenly. The Were-Dragon clearly wasn’t ready to end his chainsaw experience. Trowa could barely contain his snickers.

“No, that’s part of the chore breakdown. There are cutters and cleaners; once we get back, I’ll let Mirabelle know that we’re finished and she’ll send the cleaners down to do the cleaning and maintenance. Before the kits are allowed to use the chainsaws, they learn to care for them. It’ll probably be Hortensia and Raphael this month.”

Wufei blinked, pulling his hands away from the nifty little machine that had accomplished two days work in a few hours.

“Hortensia? Someone named their child *Hortensia*?! Damn, Trowa, what did the poor kid do to deserve that?”

Trowa snorted. “It’s a perfectly good name, lizard! She’s named after her great-grandmother.”

Wufei made a disbelieving noise and followed Trowa back up the trail to the dens. “You people have the damnedest naming traditions… You’re almost as bad as Humans.”

“Oh? And I suppose ‘Wufei’ is the height of popularity among Were-Dragons?”

Wufei rolled his eyes. It wasn’t; he’d been named for a rather obscure ancestor who apparently had done nothing worthy of note. Funny how names could affect one’s whole life…

“Not really… They mostly borrowed from the Chinese Humans… Some traditional thing from back in the beginnings…” He shrugged. It didn’t much matter to him anymore.

Wufei is such a mucking big ball of quiet angst, isn't he? ;_; Poor wee geeko Dragon! I feel so sorry for him. Trowa needs to throw him down in the middle of all those wood chips and kiss him senseless give him a hug. ^^;
No melting. We are being hopeful in a low-key way. *lights another hamster* You going to SD after the lense thinger? I still can't believe how expensive those things are! O.O Can't you slap some tape on it and hold off for a couple of weeks? Maybe we could find one at a junk yard?

Five full trees in three hours?!?! Methinks danger could loom for Krushenada's rose bushes if Wufei manages to purchase a 'nifty little machine' for himself. I can just picture him stroking it gently. Heheh.

And I'm with Sunhawk. Trowa need to give the little dragon a big hug. *Although I liked her struck out suggestion better.*

Try a junkyard/vehicle reclamation lot/whatever. Many times it's never just sold as the lens. You have to buy the whole light unit assembly. Per a state inpection I had to replace a cracked one. $120 from the dealership for the unit, $10 from the parts lot for the unit. I dis/reassembled just the lens and was good.

The pissy dragon has issues. Maybe several subscriptions worth. He's trying, though. ^___^

*snork!* I have a feeling Trowa might end up with blistered ears if he tried dumping Wufei into the wood chips. ^___^ Maybe a bed would work better.

Junk yard didn't have any. It's a Ranger so the pick-a-part places see a lot of Ford activity (remember what FORD stands for ^.o). I'll get it done tomorrow morning before work. I'm about equally afraid of getting a ticket and getting rain damage, so don't want to wait. And I'm afraid the tape would end up pulling the paint right off. O.O

Tell Bubba he's a real trooper and it looks like he's getting a goody. ^___^

The car guy checked the yards around here, but no one had any for my particular year, dammit. >.< *sigh* I kinda figured that would be the case. One place had three right side parts, but none for the left. =p
