I once read a book called "Nest of Worlds", the general idea being that worlds are nested inside one another and their relationship can be explained through mathematics. The reason I'm mentioning it, is that the more "nested" the world (deeper in the box), the people inhabiting it had a Significant Name, which essentially said how would they die. In our world we have none, in the the next nest there were I think four different ones (one I remember was Aeriel, "through air" and I know there was a "from the inside" etc), and so on and on and on. Book was interesting.
