random daily stuff
Jun. 2nd, 2009 10:57 amI'm sure some will find this eye-rollingly silly, but what can I say? I am easily amused by wildlife stuff. ^___^
I'm on my way home from the pharmacy this morning. I stop at the traffic light, waiting to make a left turn, open my bottle of DP (gotta have my caffeine), and hear a funny scrabbling sound from the rear of my truck. Now, any random noise from the vicinity of my truck will cause an immediate adrenalin hit, because I have no regular job and hence no way of paying for repairs. I glance at my dash, but all the gauges and idiot lights are fine, so I check the mirrors. I can't see into the bed, but that seems to be where the scrabbling is coming from. Maybe a particularly large leaf? A hunk of eucalyptus bark rolling in the breeze? I'm only two miles from home; I figure I will check when I get there and remove the noisy thing. Roll forward a touch in anticipation of the arrow. Movement in the mirror. I look in my mirror and find the cause of my adrenalin. A red tail hawk is now sitting on my tailgate, arranging a rodent in its talons for easy shipment. O_O;; In the few seconds before the light changes, s/he adjusts the talons on the (hopefully) dead snack and then launches from my tailgate to rise lazily on the currents, heading over to the campus.
I love my neighborhood. ^_____^
