If I mention that it had entirely escaped my mind that I do have bits of this to post, would anyone show up with flaming torches? Just wondering. ^___^

I can only plead massive terminal distraction, like the 25# cat who oozes under the sofa, the 10# cat who scared a dog, the 18# cat with the droopy tail and mostly the truck that decided to run a fever. O.O All finally adjusted to or repaired, and the brain casually says "Yo, what about some new Banshee?" First reaction was "Do I have any?" Then I opened the file. *facepalm* Yup. I haz some. So... see below. ^___^

BFB – Part 104 – Freaky

Time moves oddly when you're porting. I am not sure if this is apparent to the Wizards or if it's just me. Sometimes it takes what feels like a few seconds to get somewhere and other times, it seems like hours. Distance seems to have nothing to do with it. This time felt almost instantaneous.

We hit the ground just off the main road at the gravel drive that led up to both Farq and Ovalia's properties.

Jake had progressed to wringing his hands and chewing on his bottom lip.

“Thanks Jake. We'll be fine, I swear.”

“So you think now,” he grumbled. He turned to Ctik. “Do you have a phone?” Ctik nodded and waved it at him. “Good. This is my personal number. If anything – and I mean anything – bizarre or... or dangerous happens, hit the speed dial. I'll be here within 10 seconds.”

He gave me a long look and then sighed as if he was losing a lung. “If anything weird happens, you will tell Heero I tried to talk you out of it, right?”

“Oh course,” I snorted.

“I need some - “ he began and vanished.

Ctik cocked his head at me. “What do you suppose he needs?”

“Scotch. Aspirin. Tylenol. Or whatever he keeps on hand. I give out lots of headaches,” I grinned.

“You enjoy it, don't you.”

“Well... yeah. Pretty much. Keeps people on their toes.”

We headed up the lane and I explained about Farq and how he came to be “mine”.

Ctik laughed softly. “You do seem to collect oddballs like me.”

I snorted. “It's not my intention, really, but somebody needs to look out for you folks. Guess I just have the right temperament.”

“Or the compassion.” I glanced his way, but he seemed perfectly content to be one of my “problems”. Weird.

We weren't running, although I almost felt like we should be. Voices became audible; two female voices. Crap. I could hear that snarl in Ovalia's tiger tones. Pissed wouldn't begin to describe it.

We rounded a curve and spotted the three in the middle of the turn-around in front of Farq's farmhouse. The Wizard was yelling and waving her wand around. Ovalia sat back on her haunches, well into her were-tiger form and looking like a massive chunk of striped basalt. I'd forgotten how huge she was in that form; she made Trowa look like a house cat. She was also yelling, with a lot more volume. I didn't even try to sort out the words.

“Ctik, Farq's over there, trying to blend in with the porch swing; you wanna join him while I sort this out. I need to get that dumbass Wizard to focus on me.” Without waiting for his agreement, I jogged into the combat zone.

No flaming torches. Just some sniveling and begging perhaps?

Ctik is rapidly becoming one of my favorite characters. He is very aware of how important Duo is to him and seems to have no problem with it.

He's been around long enough to have lost any misplaced pride. ^___^ And Duo leaks pheromones, too.

As long as there are not torches. It's hot enough here as it is. =P

Here's the thing that I think explains why Ctik is willing to accept Duo's help so easily: 1) he's old enough that he's become a pretty good judge of character (as long as it doesn't involve a family member) and understands that Duo is trustworthy, and 2) he's used to having someone take care of the day time-out stuff for him, and has had enough people doing that for him that he can spot talent when he sees it.

I would have no problem becoming part of Duo's tribe! :D Maybe Ctik just likes the entertainment value? Things are never boring in Duo's company. Hehehehe.....
Wait.... that's three different weights of cat.... did I lose track of something? And a dog?? What dog?
Truck all better?

Well, Ctik does value the entertainment he finds in Humans, so that probably extends to Magical Creatures as well. ^__^

*snork!* Eldest cat is 10#, Booboo-Kitty is about 18# and SugarPuss is 25#. He's the newest one. The dog was being walked by one of the neighbors on one of those retractable leashes and it decided to check out my patio. ElderCat was in the window and she made a gawdawful noise at it and the dog sort of self-retracted. ^__^ Teach him to trespass on *her* territory.

Truck's all better. ^___^ The new fan clutch roars like a lion.

Yep to both. ^__^ He's had a long stretch of having to trust and so far as we know, Miles and his sneaky father were the only mistakes. But, you know... family. *rolls eyes*

Thank you!

I love all your stories, especially the Blue Forest Banshee. The characters all come alive on my screen and it's fun to see the crossover cameos. I first came across your works at and immediately had a blast watching Duo grow and mature from a naive boy suffering terribly from culture shock to the premiere mediator/liaison that every depends on to help keep things running smoothly. I do have to ask though, is the story "The Chibi Problem" dead? It is so absolutely adorable and I keep checking and re-reading it for the giggles, tears, and feels. I hope that you continue to share your talents with us on the web.

And thank you right back! ^__^ I do try to be entertaining.

"Chibi" is not dead; just kind of languishing. I have been working on it, but I'm trying to have a whole part ready before I start posting it. My "Chibi" hamsters have been pretty disorganized for the last few years, running in all directions at once. Finally got them mostly headed in the same direction. Can't promise when, but... eventually. ^___^

OMG! MORE CHIBI! I can't wait! "The Chibi Problem" is one of the stories I read over and over and over. It always cheers me up when I'm depressed!

And there was wild fangirling! Banshee for the win!

I also like the whole, you go sit with the other people while I go get in the wizard's face. Just excellent!

Duo's getting really tired of having to get Heero or Q to go to bat for him against some of the departments. He doesn't realize how pissed he's getting yet; it's still simmering. And then is the whole "you wouldn't like me when I'm angry" thing. ^___^

In this case, he may be subconsciously hoping that the Wizard can't hurt him. O_^

For some reason, Banshee Duo always reminds of the Hulk (the Avenger's version). Unassuming, calm, brilliant without really appearing so (unlike Iron Man)and then there's the "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry". I always love your updates.
